Center for Leadership & Social Change at Florida State University

Media Development Intern

As a media development intern, I assist with the writing, editing, and final publishing of Center press releases, website content, and social media postings. An example press release, written by me, announcing a university-wide voting initiative can be viewed using the link to the right. My primary role is the development and design of websites for the Center for Leadership and Social Change. I have developed and designed an FSU Voting Education website and an FSU MLK Celebration Week website. These are the official FSU sites for these events and are used by the entire student body of over 30,000 individuals. These sites can be viewed using the links to the right. I developed both these websites using Drupal, HTML, and CSS. I also designed multiple social media marketing campaigns using Canva. Additionally, this is a completely remote position and requires advanced written communication skills and self-motivation with independent work.

Florida State University College of Education Research

Undergraduate Research Assistant

As an undergraduate research assistant, I work on a research project based within the college of education that focuses on the impact of social media on a student's sense of community and the potential uses of social media within school as a learning tool. Through this project, I have had the opportunity to personally present a poster at Florida State University's 19th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium and contribute to a published poster presentation. The published poster can be viewed using the link to the right, as well as the research website.

This project has evolved since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and since April 2020 our team has been analyzing the emotional, mental, and social benefits of social media during the pandemic quarantine. We have interviewed over 40 Tallahassee local teenagers regarding their personal social media use and their current emotional state. I have personally conducted sixteen interviews and written memos extrapolating the most pertinent information from each interview. This project is ongoing and should be published later this year.

Florida State University College of Social Science and Public Policy Student Leadership Council

Scholarship Chair

As the Student Leadership Council Scholarship Chair, I serve as the lesion between FSU’s College of Social Science and Public Policy and the Student Government Association. I plan multiple events throughout the school year based on student feedback for which scholarship-based events the college needs to offer. These events are planned with the help of the scholarship committee, a group of students within the Student Leadership Council, whom I delegate tasks to. The event planning includes booking a presentation room on-campus, organizing relevant speakers, submitting proper school approval paperwork on-time, organzing food delivery, and creating a multimedia presentation to present the topic being discussed. These events have an average of 50 attendees and spread educational information for various programs on campus.
